Welcome to the second Monster Island Matinee!

Today’s Saturday afternoon screening features Lizardo, The Destroyer! Lizardo, much like its name suggests, loves nothing more than a good old fashioned stomp through a city; maybe a power plant if it can find one, a bit like the world infamous GODZILLA!

Its origin is shrouded in mystery, some have said that it was born in the belly of a volcano and will only be seen when one erupts. Others say it is a mutated Salamander. The truth may never be known!

What we DO know is that this original drawing, created by the master of Monster Art that is Graham Nolan, can be made your very own by backing this Kickstarter Campaign at the $300 Pledge Level.

 If you back at this level, you also get for your personal library both the digital and over-sized hardcover version of Monster Island: 20th Anniversary Edition and the Black Book: The Art of Graham Nolan.

Monster Pin-up Pop Quiz:

Question: What’s the coolest thing about this gorgeous Monster pin-up by art master, Mark Nelson?

     a) The narrative of the piece, the way it tells a story split between humor and doom.

     b) The use of shadows and inking techniques. There’s so much to see in there!

     c) The brilliant Monster design. It’s like a lobster mixed with an Alien!

     d) All of the above and every other dang thing about this pin-up is cool!

Our collective hats are doffed in Mr. Nelson’s direction. It’s a truly beautiful piece.

Mark has spent a career drawing nasty critters, among many other things. Having drawn Aliens for Dark Horse, Hellraiser for Epic Comics and a whole bunch of illustrations for Dungeons & Dragons, L5R and White Wolf, Mark knows how to draw the stuff of nightmares!

This pin-up is so good, that we just had to get it colored. So we sent it to one of our super-colorist guys, Nanjan Jamberi, and he sent this beastie back:
